- Oct. 15th, 2025: In the scope of ROMANDIC, together with Slovenian Association of Robotics and SRIP ToP we are organizing an event “Robotics and AI for advanced manipulation” at Hotel Mons in Ljubljana.
- Oct. 6th, 2025: Application for ROMANDIC Winter School on Robot handling of deformable objects, which will take place In Kranjska Gora from February 9th till 13th are open!
- Sept. 4th, 2025: Our paper “PDDL-Guided Robot Cloth Folding from Simulation to Real World” (Aldin Dželo, Adna Šestić, Andrej Gams and Senka Krivic) was presented at the 30th International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- July 7th, 2025: In the scope of ROMANDIC we are co-organizing the “5th workshop on RObotic MAnipulation of Deformable Objects: holistic approaches and challenges forward“.
- June 26th, 2025: I visited prof. Senka Krivic at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Sarajevo in the scope of an ARIS bilateral Slovenia-BiH project.
- June 19th, 2025: Our paper “Improving Unfolding Success Rate through Cloth Pose Correction”, by Jan Jerićević, Peter Nimac, Domen Tabernik, and Andrej Gams, was presented at RAAD 2025 conference in Belgrade, Serbia.
- June 12th, 2025: In the scope of ROMANDIC I attended a WS on Project offices in Sitges, Spain.
- May 30th, 2025: Our contribution to the IPSSC conference “Unfolding the challenge: Robotic Solution to Autonomously Unfold Crumpled Garments”, by Nimac, Tabernik, Jerićević, Gams, received the BEST contribution award. Congrats to the presenting author Peter Nimac.
- May 23rd, 2025: We hosted Senka Krivić and Bakir Lačević from the University of Sarajevo.
- May 5th, 2025: Together with Senka Krivić and others we proposed and got accepted a CEEPUS network called RAiSE. The network fosters interdisciplinary collaboration to tackle regional and global challenges, focusing on integrating AI and robotic solutions into real-world applications.
- March 1st 2025: Our project HORACE officially started. I attended the kick-off meeting of this trilateral project between Idiap, Switzerland (PI: Sylvain Calinon), Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia (PI: Andrej Gams) and LAMOR (PI: Ivan Marković) at the premises of Idiap at Martigny in late February.
- Feb. 13th 2025: We presented our textile stretching cell, based on the ICRA competition cell, at the IFAM 2025 fair in Ljubljana.

- Dec. 4th 2024: I attended the AID4SME project kick-off meeting in Leuven, Belgium. The goal of the project is to support SMEs to develop combined Artificial Intelligence & Data Solutions for large scale resource optimisation challenges.
- Nov. 28th 2024: I attended HUMANOIDS 2024 and the euROBIN meeting in Nancy, where we took part in the 1st euROBIN coopetition. Our JSI-HCR team won the Robotic manufacturing for a circular economy League! Winners, photo1, photo2.
- Nov. 7th 2024: Project ROMANDIC kick-off meeting hosting representatives from KIT and CSIC was held at Jožef Stefan Institute.
- Oct. 1st 2024: Our project ROMANDIC has started. This Twinning project deals with generating a network on the topic oh robot handling of deformables, and will last for 3 years.
- Sept 26th 2024: We presented our paper Razvojna robotska celica za razgrinjanje tekstila (Nimac, Tabernik, Skočaj, Gams) at ERK 2024.
- Sept. 16th 2024: Our paper Transfer learning in robotics: An upcoming breakthrough? A review of promises and challenges (Jaquier, Welle, Gams, Yao, Fichera, Billard, Ude, Asfour, Kragic) has been published in IJRR!
- July 12th 2024: Our proposal for a new European project titled AID4SME has been approved for funding by the EC. The project is scheduled to start late 2024 or early 2025.
- July 10th 2024: Our paper Adaptive Visual Quality Inspection Based on Defect Prediction From Production Parameters (Lončarević, Reberšek, Šela, Skvarč, Ude, Gams)has been published in IEEE Access
- July 5th 2024: I hosted prof. Senka Krivić from the University of Sarajevo for a few days. With her, a couple of her students arrived and one stayed for the summer at our lab!
- June 22nd: 2024 I hosted prof. Ludovic Righetti from NYU within the scope of an ARIS bilateral project SI-US.
- June 3rd 2024: I coauthored 2 papers presented at RAAD 2024. Our paper with Peter Nimac got the the Best APPLICATION Paper Finalist Award.
- May 24th 2024: Our paper (with Z. Lončarević) was presented at MIPRO 2024.
- May 15th 2024: We, together with ViCOS lab, participated in ICRA 2024 – Cloth Competition in the scope of RTFM project. We ranked 2nd in the competition!
- May 7th 2024: I visited the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Sarajevo where I was warmly greeted by prof. Senka Krivić. I gave a talk, titled Autonomous trajectory generation for robot-aided visual quality inspection.
- April 26th 2024: Our paper Exploiting image quality measure for automatic trajectory generation in robot-aided visual quality inspection (with A. Jafari-Tabrizi and D. P. Gruber) was published in The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology.
- April 1st: 2024 I took over from Bojan Nemec as head of the Humanoid and Cognitive Robotics Lab.
- March 15th 2024: I presented at the Transferability workhsop at the 2024 ERF in Rimini. Title: Promises and Challenges of Transfer Learning in Robotics: Task Transfer.
- March 14th 2024: I presented at the Advancements in High Performance Humanoid & Legged Robot Functionalities workshop at the 2024 ERF in Rimini. Title: Physical Assistance in Human-Humanoid Robot Collaboration – TALOS. I also participated in the panel.

- Dec. 01. 2023: In the scope of EU project euROBIN we completed and submitted to review a survey on Transfer Learning: Transfer Learning in Robotics: An Upcoming Breakthrough? A Review of Promises and Challenges (Jaquier, Welle, Gams, Yao, Fichera, Billard, Ude, Asfour, Kragic) – availabe at arxiv.
- Sep. 28. 2023: We published a paper at the International Electrotechnical and Computer Science Conference (ERK).
- June 15. 2023: I gave a keynote presentation titled “Robot Learning: from imitation to learning in simulation” at RAAD 2023 conference.
- June 14. 2023: I co-authored 3 papers at Robotics in Alpe-Adria-Danube region (RAAD) 2023 conference.
- June 2. 2023: I was one of the organizers of the Transferability in Robotics Workshop at ICRA 2023.
- May 17. 2023: With Michael Welle and Noémie Jaquier we gave a keynote presentation “Transfer Learning in Robotics: A Review of Promises and Challenges” at the euROBIN Sevilla event.

- Dec. 9. 2022: I presented our paper Combining reinforcement learning and lazy learning for faster few-shot transfer learning (Lončarević, Simonič, Ude, Gams) at The 2022 IEEE-RAS International Conference on Humanoid Robots (Humanoids 2022) in Ginowan, Okinawa, Japan.
- Oct. 1. 2022: We started a new Slovenian Research Agency Funded (ARRS) project titled Robot Textile and Fabric Inspection and Manipulation (RTFM), project code J2-4457.
- Sept. 20. 2022: Two of our papers were published at ERK 2022 conference.
- July 1. 2022: Our paper Manipulation Learning on Humanoid Robots (Gams, Petrič, Nemec, Ude) was published in Current Robotics Reports.
- June 16. 2022: I presented our paper Randomized Robotic Visual Quality Inspection with In-hand Camera (Lončarević, Reberšek, Ude, Gams) at IAS-17 conference in Zagreb, Croatia.

- Feb. 18. 2022: Our paper Pedestrian Traffic Light Control with Crosswalk FMCW Radar and Group Tracking Algorithm (Nimac, Krpič, Batagelj, Gams) was published in Sensors Journal.
- Dec. 08. 2021: Our paper Accelerated Robot Skill Acquisition by Reinforcement Learning-Aided Sim-To-Real Domain Adaptation (Lončarević, Ude, Gams) was presented at ICAR 2021 Virtual conference.
- Oct. 01. 2021: Peter Nimac joined our team as a new PhD student, funded by the Young Researcher Programme.
